Winter is right around the corner and Guttman Energy understands the importance of your equipment running smoothly even during periods of extreme cold. To ensure that our customers have the best possible fuel operability in winter months, we have developed a fuel quality program to ensure operation during the area’s coldest temperatures.
Guttman has paired with an industry-leading additive manufacturer to identify the most effective and cost-efficient winter treatment program. The innovative formula was selected after careful analysis of the various fuels commonly used in the region and their reaction to additive. The winter additive formula was further verified using a testing program that compared the actual performance of the additive across various customer and terminal locations.
We also offer a complete line of specialty additives such as de-icer and emergency winter diesel fuel additive, as well as provide advice on how to best prepare for the coldest winter temperatures.
VSO Program
Guttman is proud to offer a verification, surveillance, and optimization (VSO) program for our customers. This program is a joint effort between Guttman and the customer to help ensure fuel is performing up to the target specification as well as verify that there are no issues in the storage tank.
Through this program, our customers can send monthly samples directly to the lab for testing. Each sample is also tested for water, contamination, and winter operability to help ensure an issue-free winter season.
The VSO program is free to customers and is easy to participate in. If you are interested in enrolling in the Guttman Energy VSO program, please contact Lindsay Farrell. lfarrell@guttmangroup.com
Rule of Threes?
Will it be three straight winters with colder than usual temperatures? If you believe the Farmer’s Almanac, the answer is yes. The Almanac is calling for unseasonably cold temperatures in much of the Guttman service area. In contrast, the Energy Information Association (EIA) expects this winter to be 13% warmer than last winter.
Only time will tell who is right. Regardless, it’s a pretty safe bet that the winter won’t pass without at least a few days where timely use of the right additive could be the difference between equipment making you money vs. equipment costing you money.
